ALMA Backyard Farms is an organization rooted in restorative justice and environmental stewardship. Through urban farming, ALMA creates opportunities for formerly incarcerated women and men to give back to their communities by growing food in low-income Los Angeles neighborhoods experiencing food injustice.

Volunteering and working at ALMA for over two years, I have created a series of apparel and print products supporting their children’s program—Peas in a Pod. We created the first “Food Farmers” shirt to be a cute and educational apparel for the kids coming to the farm. The produce farmer characters were utilized in creating a six-page interactive coloring book for children visiting the farm. As art director of ALMA’s first summer program in 2022, I designed and hand-printed a series of “Summer Peas” t-shirts for the children to assist me in tie-dying using natural dye I created by boiling onion skins and red cabbage.
